My objective was...

The idea behind this audio piece is largely based on my overall experience of college this far, and also how I anticipate the rest of my schooling will unravel. There are three main techniques I used in this piece, speed, repetition, and anticipation. The speed of the piece is representative of how my college experience started off slow, steady, and consistent, and then the pace rapidly picked up and now it almost feels as if I am running everywhere and always in a rush to get onto the next thing. The repetition closely correlates with the speed. It starts off with four small segments repeating four times while the speed remains constant. This represents the way college started off with many broad subjects, but since the early subjects are designed to be manageable, you have the time and energy to complete everything. However, as the speed increases, the number of times each small segment is repeated goes down. This represents the way classes get harder and because many are so time consuming you just can not fit them all in. Finally this piece deals with the idea of anticipation by combining the speed increase, the increase in how fast the four small segments are repeated, and by slowly increasing the volume. This is representative of my future and how I am excited and ready to take on what every life throws at me, but I am still very unsure and uneasy of where it will lead me.
